Mapping: By conducting a GWAS on 92 affected and 68 control Doberman pinschers, each genotyped with the Affymetrix v2 canine SNP chip (yielding 14,700 informative SNPs for analysis), Dodman et al. (2010) highlighted a 1.7Mb region on chromosome CFA7. Fine-mapping narrowed the candidate region to 400kb, which includes the gene CDH2, which "is widely expressed, mediating synaptic activity-regulated neuronal adhesion". A SNP in this gene showed the strongest association with the disorder.
