OMIA:000230-9615 : Corneal dystrophy in Canis lupus familiaris (dog)

In other species: domestic cat , rabbit

Categories: Vision / eye phene

Links to MONDO diseases: No links.

Mendelian trait/disorder: unknown

Considered a defect: yes

Species-specific description: Genetics Committee of the American College of Veterinary Opthalmologists (2021): "non-inflammatory corneal opacity (white to gray) present in one or more of the corneal layers (epithelium, stroma, endothelium). The term dystrophy implies an inherited condition. It is usually bilateral although not necessarily symmetrical and the onset in one eye may precede the other."

Genetic engineering: Unknown
Have human generated variants been created, e.g. through genetic engineering and gene editing

Breeds: Beagle (Dog) (VBO_0200131), German Shorthaired Pointer (Dog) (VBO_0200583), German Wirehaired Pointer (Dog) (VBO_0200602).
Breeds in which the phene has been documented. For breeds in which a likely causal variant has been documented, see the variant table below
