Cross-species summary: A congenital developmental disorder characterised by a single orbital fossa (eye socket). Named after the race of one-eyed giants of Greek mythology. In humans, this disorder is often associated with a chromosomal abnormality.

Species-specific description: In a reported case in pigs (Arakaki and Vogt, 1976), the affected animal, which died within an hour of birth, was shown to have a normal karyotype.

Inheritance: There is no evidence on the inheritance of this disorder in pigs.
