OMIA:000008-9685 : Acromegaly in Felis catus (domestic cat)

In other species: dog

Categories: Endocrine / exocrine gland phene (incl mammary gland)

Possibly relevant human trait(s) and/or gene(s)s (MIM numbers): 102200 (trait) , 605555 (gene)

Links to MONDO diseases: No links.

Mendelian trait/disorder: unknown

Considered a defect: yes

Species-specific name: Feline hypersomatotropism

Markers: Scudder et al. (2016) obtained some evidence for a genetic contribution to this disorder in cats: "a nonsynonymous AIP single nucleotide polymorphism in 20% of the acromegalic cat population evaluated, as well as in one of the sibling pairs evaluated". A likely causal mutation has yet to be identified.

Genetic engineering: Unknown
Have human generated variants been created, e.g. through genetic engineering and gene editing
