OMIA:000082-9615 : Atopy in Canis lupus familiaris (dog)

In other species: domestic cat

Categories: Integument (skin) phene

Possibly relevant human trait(s) and/or gene(s) (MIM number): 147050 (trait)

Links to MONDO diseases: No links.

Mendelian trait/disorder: unknown

Considered a defect: yes

Mapping: By conducting a GWAS on "31 high-IgE and 24 low-IgE responder" West Highland White Terrier dogs, each genotyped with the Affymetrix V2 Dog SNP chip (yielding 48,157 informative SNPs for analysis), Barros Roque et al. (2011) highlighted a 2.3Mb region on chromosome CFA35. A polymorphism within a nearby positional candidate gene, CD83, was shown not to be causal.

Genetic engineering: Unknown
Have human generated variants been created, e.g. through genetic engineering and gene editing
