Mapping: Using a 700K SNP chip, Pausch et al. (2012) conducted a genome scan of 3,579 Flekvieh bulls with a total of 320,186 progeny classified for the extent of pigment surrounding the eyes "(ambilateral circumocular pigmentation, ACOP)", which has a strong genetic correlation with eye cancer. They identified 12 QTL regions on seven chromosomes, which in total accounted for 54% of the phenotypic variance in the proportion of daughters with ACOP.
