OMIA:000337-9615 : Entropion in Canis lupus familiaris

In other species: domestic cat , horse , pig , taurine cattle , goat , sheep , rabbit

Categories: Vision / eye phene

Links to MONDO diseases: No links.

Mendelian trait/disorder: unknown

Considered a defect: yes

Cross-species summary: Inversion (turning inward) of the margin of the eyelid.

Species-specific description: Genetics Committee of the American College of Veterinary Opthalmologists (2021): Entropion is "a conformational defect resulting in inversion of the eyelid margin which may cause ocular irritation. It is likely that entropion is influenced by several factors defining the skin and other structures, which make up the eyelids, orbital contents, and conformation of the skull."
