Mendelian trait/disorder:
yes
Mode of inheritance:
Autosomal Recessive
Considered a defect:
yes
Key variant known:
no
History:
This disorder was first reported in an inbred line of hamsters by Homburger et al. (1962). From this original line (BIO1.50) were originated a line with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (BIO14.6; see OMIA 000515-10036) and a line with dilated cardiomyopathy (TO-2; see OMIA 000162-10036) (Sakamoto et al., 1997)
Mapping:
The disorder was linkage mapped to chromosome 9QA2.1-B1 by Okasaki et al. (1996).
