Inheritance: Genetic and non-genetic forms of cataract exist. According to Detlefson and Yapp (1920; American Naturalist 54: 277-280; see OMIA:000168-9913), Hurst (1910) reported that in some breeds "cataract-blindness in horses is a Mendelian trait".
